About us
Meet the Pastors
Pastors Gary and Denise Hopkins have served in ministry for more than 25 years. Pastor Gary moved to Omaha in 1987, after graduating with his B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Pastor Denise graduated from Des Moines Area Community College, receiving her Associate’s Degree, and then attended Drake University before moving to Omaha.
For 14 years Pastor Gary served as the instructor for the new membership class, where he helped new and old believers understand who they were as Christians and grow spiritually. He also facilitates spiritual workshops and seminars. In 1994, Pastor Gary served as the first African-American Regional President for the American Baptist Churches of Nebraska.
Early in her ministry, Pastor Denise was called to evangelize. She attended classes in Omaha and received her certificates from the Philadelphia School of Evangelism. She worked with various Christian women’s organizations, including Alliance Clergy Women Ministry.
Both were licensed as Associate Ministers and later they were ordained by a local church and board of clergy here in Omaha. They graduated from the Heartland School of Ministry and have completed coursework with International Conference of Biblical Counseling (ICBC).
In 1998, the Lord called Pastor Denise into prison ministry. Later her husband would join her and Saints of Salvation Ministries would be birthed. This ministry would meet a great need in the State of Nebraska. It would let hopeless and helpless people know that “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life,” and with Him all things are possible.
On June 10, 2007 the doors of Promised Land Worship Center were opened. They started with humble beginnings in a small storefront. God provided the increase and within five years they moved to their current location 8019 North 31st St., where everyone is welcomed with the love of Jesus.
Our mission
The mission of Promised Land Worship Center is to accept and receive all people. To nurture and disciple them in the love of Christ and the Word of God. To help them identify and move into God’s purpose and destiny for their lives.
